What matters to you

Whether a joinery, an electrical and plumbing business, a hairdressing salon or a cleaning company: in crafts and services the owner usually works in the business personally. There is little time left for bookkeeping and dealing with the authorities, yet invoices, payroll, filings and deadlines must all be right.

We take this work off your hands and are your point of contact when questions arise: a large order, your first hire, buying a machine, or whether your current legal form still fits. We also support the handover of the business to the next generation.

Accounting, payroll and taxes from a single source

Depending on size and legal form, craft businesses keep simplified or ordinary accounts. Since the introduction of e-invoicing, incoming and outgoing invoices run through the national exchange system (Sistema di Interscambio, SdI), which simplifies processes but also makes errors immediately visible. For many businesses, the tax authorities also calculate tax reliability indicators (ISA), the results of which can affect audits and benefits.

For employees, payroll, the collective agreement and social security must be aligned. How owners are classified for contribution purposes depends on their activity and personal situation. We check which insurance and which filings are required in each case.

Tax bonuses for renovation and construction work

Many trade businesses work for customers who want to claim tax deductions for renovation, energy efficiency or the removal of architectural barriers. The requirements, percentages and caps of these bonuses have changed several times in recent years, and the once common option of an invoice discount (sconto in fattura) or transfer of the tax credit is now only available in exceptional cases.

For you as a business, it is important that invoices contain the required details and that customers pay by a special bank transfer on which the bank applies a tax withholding. For work on buildings, the reverse charge mechanism may also apply, for example if you act as a subcontractor.

Legal form, funding and growth

Many businesses start out as sole proprietorships (ditta individuale). When the business grows or partners join, the question arises of a partnership (snc, sas) or a limited liability company (srl). The decision affects liability, taxation, social security contributions and accounting obligations and should therefore be backed by figures.

The Province of South Tyrol supports craft businesses with investments, digitalisation and training, among other things. Criteria and deadlines change regularly. We check which programmes are suitable for your project and support you with the application and the claim.

  • Comparative calculation of legal forms
  • Registration with the Companies Register and, where applicable, with the register of craft businesses (Albo delle imprese artigiane)
  • Grant applications to the Province and the Chamber of Commerce
  • Financing machinery and vehicles

Business handover and succession

Handing over to children, employees or an external buyer requires lead time. Issues to clarify include the value of the business, the right form of transfer, such as gift, sale or contribution to a company, and provision for the transferors and for siblings who do not take over.

For transfers of businesses within the family, Italian law provides an exemption from inheritance and gift tax under certain conditions, for example if the business is continued for a minimum period. We explain the options and coordinate with the notary and lawyer where necessary.

Frequently asked questions

Answers on legal form, invoicing, staff and business handover.

Can’t find your question?+39 0473 200 852
When does it pay to switch from a sole proprietorship to an srl?

That depends mainly on the level of profits, liability risks, planned partners and your drawings policy. A limited company (S.r.l.) involves higher running costs and more formalities. We calculate both options with your figures before you decide.

What must my invoice state if the customer wants to claim a tax bonus?

In addition to the usual invoice details, depending on the bonus, certain wording and a clear description of the work are important. The customer must also pay in the prescribed manner. We check your invoice templates and tell you what to look out for.

Can I outsource my payroll to you even if I only have two employees?

Yes. In small businesses especially, the effort involved in collective agreements, reports and contributions is relatively high. We handle payroll and the related filings regardless of company size.

How early should I start planning the handover?

Ideally a few years in advance. This leaves time to prepare the business, make use of tax planning options and train the successors. An initial meeting is worthwhile at any time.

Let’s talk about your plans.
