What matters to you

Industrial and manufacturing businesses in South Tyrol often operate with substantial fixed assets, large inventories and customers in Italy and abroad. Accounting and tax requirements are correspondingly complex: investments must be depreciated correctly, funding applied for on time and cross-border supplies treated properly.

We support manufacturing businesses with bookkeeping, cost accounting, planning and annual financial statements. We only accept independent audit or control engagements where they are compatible with our other services.

Investments, depreciation and tax credits

Anyone investing in machinery, digitalisation or energy efficiency in Italy can often claim tax credits (crediti d’imposta) or enhanced depreciation. However, these instruments are regularly amended, extended or redesigned by the annual budget laws. Which rule applies to a particular purchase often depends on the timing of the order, the down payment and commissioning.

There are also formal requirements such as technical certifications, advance notifications or specific wording on invoices. If they are missing, the incentive may be disallowed in an audit. In addition, there are grant programmes from the Province of South Tyrol and the EU, for example for research, innovation and business investment.

  • Review of which incentive applies to a specific investment project
  • Aligning order, delivery and commissioning with the deadlines
  • Documentation for a later audit
  • Tax depreciation using the ministerial rates

Inventory, fixed assets and cost accounting

The valuation of inventories (rimanenze di magazzino) of raw materials, supplies, semi-finished and finished goods has a direct impact on profit and tax burden. Permitted valuation methods and their consistent application must be observed, as must write-downs of slow-moving goods.

Meaningful cost accounting shows which products, orders or customers actually make money. Together with you, we set up cost centre and cost unit accounting or develop your existing system, so that costing, pricing and planning are based on reliable figures.

Exports, supply chains and group structures

Different requirements and proof apply to supplies to other EU countries and to exports. We review the movement of goods, the customer’s status and the required filings. For regular export business, we also clarify whether purchases can be made without VAT within an available plafond.

Where several companies belong to a group, such as a production company and a sales or property company, questions arise about transfer pricing, tax consolidation (consolidato fiscale) and consolidated financial statements. Through the ECOVIS network, we coordinate with local colleagues for foreign subsidiaries or branches.

Annual accounts, board of statutory auditors and audit

Once certain size thresholds are reached, corporations must appoint a board of statutory auditors (collegio sindacale) or an auditor (revisore legale). Even where there is no obligation, many businesses opt for an audit, for example because of banks, investors or a planned succession.

We prepare annual financial statements in accordance with the relevant accounting rules. We assess audit and statutory auditor engagements separately for compatibility with existing services. We never audit financial statements that we ourselves have prepared.

Frequently asked questions

Answers on investments, proof of export and control obligations.

Can’t find your question?+39 0473 200 852
When should we involve you in a major investment?

Ideally before placing the order. Many tax credits and incentives require certain steps to be taken in a set order or within specific deadlines. This often cannot be corrected afterwards.

Do we need a board of statutory auditors or an auditor?

That depends on the legal form and statutory size criteria such as total assets, turnover and number of employees. We review your situation and tell you whether an obligation exists or may arise soon.

What evidence do we need for VAT-exempt supplies abroad?

For intra-Community supplies, the customer’s status, VAT identification number, movement of goods and filings must be checked in particular. For exports, the customs proof of exit is what matters most. We agree with you which documents are required for each type of transaction.

Can you work with our existing accounting system?

In many cases, yes. We import data from common software or work directly with your in-house accounting team, and then concentrate on review, year-end closing and taxes.
